The Idaho Republican Party has filed suit against one of its county central committees, alleging the committee’s “illegal conduct” in favoring one candidate over another will cause irreparable harm.  In the motion, state republicans claim that the Bonneville County GOP endorsed candidates “in violation of its bylaws”.

Two murder trials will begin soon in the Magic Valley.  The Trial for Cedric Sebastian Mitchell of Twin Falls is set for October 17th.  He is charged with murder in a 2019 car crash on Blue Lakes North.  Joshua Eric Molina who has been charged with the death of his girlfriend’s daughter in 2017 will have his jury trial starting May 23rd. The trial has been vacated due to a hung jury.

Early voting for the 2022 primary election in Idaho ends today.  After today, Idahoans will need to show up at the polls on Tuesday, May 17, to vote in-person for the primary election.  The deadline to request an absentee ballot has already passed. 

As we continue to look at what’s on the ballot in The Magic Valley, in Camas County Travis Kramer, the commissioner incumbent, is running against Nicholas Weatherly.

1,000 Springs Mill in Buhl are the first farm to grown hemp in Idaho.  Hemp grain was illegal to grow in the state of Idaho before Governor Brad Little signed house bill 126 last April.  The grain is commonly associated with the drug marijuana which is illegal in the state of Idaho. Hemp grain contains neither THC nor CBD.

Chobani in Twin Falls is saying they will cover expenses incurred by employees who need to travel out of state for medical proceedures.  They say that will include abortions. 

Randy Weaver, patriarch of a family that was involved in an 11-day Idaho standoff with federal agents 30 years ago that left three people dead and helped spark the growth of anti-government extremists, has died at the age of 74.



In local sports from yesterday, first to Baseball, where Glenns Ferry took the win over Horseshoe Bend 13 to 1.  In 4A district tournament play, Twin Falls took the district championship trophy defeating Minico 3 to 1.  Elsewhere it was Jerome 6 Canyon Ridge 5 and it was Jerome 2 Wood River 1. 

In softball gams, Jerome defeated Mountain home 8 to 7 winning the 4A district championship game.  In 9 innings Twin Falls took Wood River 13 to 12.

On today’s schedule in 4 A baseball district tournament Jerome plays Minico with the winner headed to state games.  In softball, in 4A action, #2 ranked Mountain Home plays #1 ranked Twin Falls with the winner heading to state. 

District 6 Rodeo action is in Burley today.

In college of Southern Idaho softball, The eagles took the win over Salt Lake 4 to 3.
