The police department has arrested a Rupert resident on enticement of a child charges.  According to the Rupert Police Department, 39 year old Bradley Allen Pedersen was arrested on Sept. 16.  Pedersen is charged with felony counts of enticing a child through the use of the internet and attempted lewd conduct.

The price tag for a years-long project to widen a curvy section of Idaho Highway 55 near Smiths Ferry has increased again, this time to a potential maximum of more than $60 million.  The project, which was first estimated to cost $18.9 million in September 2019, has now potentially tripled in price to a range between $52 and $62 million.

A court ordered a political action committee funded by Ada County homebuilders to disclose its donors and pay a fine after an investigation by the Idaho Secretary of State. The group had to pay the state $2,500 and backdate its political contributions for the duration of 2021, totaling nearly $60,000.

Idaho U.S. Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch joined 10 Senate Republican colleagues on a letter to the CEOs of Visa, Mastercard and American Express expressing concern over the decision to remove gun sales from being categorized as “general merchandise” and instead placing gun sales into a separate, unique category.

The number of homeless individuals, or those living in extreme poverty, is continuing to grow in the Magic Valley. The Homeless Coalition is putting on a poverty simulation.  At the simulation, people will get put into a family, and will have four 15-minute periods to complete the tasks on the list.  It will be September 29th from 1-5 at the E Street Community Center.

It's been two years, and a Meridian mother is still fighting an arrest after taking her kids to a park during Covid restrictions.  Sara Walton Brady's arrest at Meridian's Kleiner Park in April 2020 went viral and sparked protests. She has spent about 25-thousand dollars fighting it.   A judge is expected to rule on her motion in about a month.


Meet Idaho's official wheelchair basketball team, the Gem State Falcons!  The Falcons currently have nine players on their roster, ranging in age from 17 to 62. Program organizer Tom Schroeder says he's always looking for more talent and hopes to form additional teams.  The Falcons are part of the Idaho Wheelchair Basketball Association and work closely with the Challenged Athletes Foundation, and Schroeder says resources are always available to get an athlete what they need to play.  The Falcons are registered with the National Wheelchair Basketball Association as a division 3 team.

The state media high school football poll is out.  In Class 4A Burley is in 4th with Skyline 1st.  In Class 3A Sugar Salem is ranked 1st.  In Class 1A Division 1 Oakley is in 1st place followed by Raft River in 2nd, Murtaugh in 4th and Carey tied for 5th with Butte County.  In Class 1A Division 2, Kendrick is in the 1st slot followed by Castleford in 2nd, Dietrich is tied for 3rd place with Camas Council and Hagerman is tied for 5th place with Council. 

Here are scores from yesterday’s High School action.  First for Boys Soccer Declo took the win from Gooding 1 to 0.  The Sun Valley Community School overpowered Kimberly 2 to 0.  Bliss and Buhl tied it up with 2 each and Wendell said no to Filer 11 to 0.  For the Girls Wendell defeated Filer 2 to 0.  Declo and Gooding tied it up with 2 each and it was the Sun Valley Community school 1 Kimberly 0.  Buhl outlasted Bliss 1 to 0. 

In Volleyball, Burley took the win over Jerome 3 to 0.  Oakley said no to North Gem 3 to 0 and Kimberly outlasted Gooding 3 to 0.  Richfield was victorious over Shoshone 3 to 1, Wendell outlasted Valley 3 to 1 and the Sun Valley community school jv said no way to the ISDB 2 to 0. 

Fred Brown Jr. is no longer an assistant coach with the CSI men’s basketball program.  Brown has been with the program since 2019. CSI went 61-28 and made two National Tournament appearances with Brown helping on the sidelines.



On today’s sports schedule, first for both boys and girls Soccer, Canyon Ridge will cross the bridge to play Jerome.  Minico travels to Mountain Home and Burley goes to Preston.  Another game for the girls has Wood River traveling to Twin Falls. 

For Volleyball, the Sun Valley Community School travels to Twin Falls to play Lighthouse Christian.  Grace will be at Murtaugh.  Filer takes on Buhl.  Mountain Home will play Minico, Castleford travels to Camas County, Jerome goes to Twin Falls to play Canyon Ridge, Mackay will travel to Carey and Dietrich will play Hansen.  Glenns Ferry travels to Raft River.  Hagerman plays Richfield and Wood River will play Twin Falls.  Declo will be in Wendell to play the trogens.
