The Idaho Department of Agriculture opened a portion of the Snake River to public access this morning just after midnight. Officials opened the river from the Highway 46 Bridge to the bottom of Yingst Grade.


Twin Falls water department crews spent much of yesterday afternoon dealing with a broken waterline. Around 3 pm a break was reported in the area of Eastgate drive, Carriage Lane and parts of Elizabeth Boulevard. Eastgate Drive between 4th avenue and Carriage lane was closed.


The Idaho Supreme court has ruled to move up the date of Thomas Creech’s oral arguments to Thursday November 2nd. Creech remains on death row and is scheduled to die on November 8th.


The sharp increase in human-caused fires in Idaho continued throughout the summer and into the fall, with Idaho Department of Lands officials investigating 206 fires caused by people so far this year. The 206 human-caused fires reported by the Idaho Department of Lands so far in 2023 compare to 78 fires caused by lighting over the same time period. The state’s cost for fighting fires is expected to hit $17.4 million for 2023 leaving $64 million in the firefighting fund.


More people around Idaho have relied on food banks and pantries over the last few years and data shows the need is not slowing down. Food banks and pantries around the state are feeling the impact. Randy Ford, The Idaho Foodbank president, said inflation plays a role in high demand. They serve about 213,000 Idahoans every month.


After three months since Boise resident Gwen Brunelle was reported missing, searchers have located a third piece of evidence. On June 26, Brunelle informed her family and friends that she was headed to California. She was last seen in Jordan Valley, Oregon, at a gas station on June 27. Now a helicopter searcher has found Gwen's boots roughly 80 yards south of where the previous clue, her T-shirt, was found.


Boise Airport officials say there are new airline routes that will begin in 2024 from Sun Country Airlines. Beginning in June of 2024 the airline will offer nonstop service from Boise to Minneapolis, Minnesota.
