The Idaho Supreme Court denied a motion to stay Thomas Creech's Feb. 28 execution early Friday evening. The 73 year old Creech is Idaho's longest-serving death row inmate. The Federal Defender Services of Idaho called the decision "disappointing."
Idaho Rep. Jordan Redman introduced a new bill that would limit local, city control on short-term rental properties across the Gem State. The bill is designed to promote access to short-term rentals and vacation rentals by limiting local governmental authority to prohibit the property uses or to specifically target them for regulation; regulation that other entities, like long-term rentals, do not face.
Two women from Pocatello and one man from Idaho Falls have been sentenced for federal drug crimes. According to the United States Attorney's Office, the crimes involved methamphetamine, fentanyl and/or firearms. 30 year old Jeniffer Daniel Borchert, of Pocatello was sentenced to five years for fentanyl distribution. 48 year old Amy Nacona Jagneaux also of Pocatello was sentenced to five years for methamphetamine distribution. 29 year old Joel Santos of Idaho Falls was also sentenced to five-and-a-half years for unlawful possession of a firearm, in connection with distribution of methamphetamine.

The bill, which has sparked a significant amount of discussion and controversy, is part of a broader effort to strengthen the legal repercussions for sexual offenses involving minors.
Police say one person died yesterday morning as the result of a vehicle crash near Burley. The accident just after 10 am happened in the eastbound lane of travel of I-84. The 69 year old man from Oroville California died at the scene.
A senate committee in Idaho is asking if the state should consider signing on to an agreement with other states to open the US constitution for amendments. It takes 34 states or two-thirds of both houses in Congress to call the convention and 38 to ratify any amendments that are proposed.
