The College of Southern Idaho Board of Trustees say that Starr Corporation has been selected as the Construction Manager/General Contractor for the new CSI LeRoy Craig Jerome Center. This 20,000-square-foot educational facility, named in honor of former CSI Board Member and longtime Jerome resident LeRoy Craig, will bring expanded educational opportunities to Jerome residents.
An earthquake followed by several aftershocks rumbled through the area of Smiths Ferry Monday. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 4.9 magnitude quake hit Smiths Ferry at 10:25 a.m. It was the largest quake in the Cascade area in about 50 years. Aftershocks will continue for several days.
The Idaho House Revenue and Taxation Committee will not accept remote, virtual testimony on bills this legislative session. It allows Idahoans from across the state to be able to testify remotely to Idaho legislators without having to physically be in downtown Boise.
In a 29-5 vote, the Idaho Senate on Monday adopted Senate Joint Memorial 103 to voice opposition to the federal government’s efforts to remove and breach dams in the Columbia-Snake River system.
A new bill introduced in the Idaho Legislature is designed to allow county commissioners to undertake an annual review of nonprofit hospitals’ property tax exemptions. If passed into law, the bill would allow counties to evaluate the community and charitable benefits of nonprofit hospitals and grant property tax exemptions in full, in part, or not at all.
The Idaho Senate on Tuesday passed a resolution that calls for gun suppressors to be regulated like guns. It would urge the U.S. Congress to pass the Hearing Protection Act, a bill supported by Idaho’s U.S. Sens. Jim Risch and Mike Crapo that regulates suppressors like firearms. All democrats opposed. It now heads to the house.
