Idaho State police say they are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred Saturday morning.  Officers from the department of Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs pursued a vehicle from the Duck Valley reservation in Nevada into Owyhee County.  The driver ran from the vehicle and shots were fired.  He died at the scene.


Gem State drivers continue to face surging prices at the pump.  According to AAA, Idaho’s average price for regular jumped ten cents this week to $3.21 per gallon, which is 33 cents more than a month ago, but 45 cents less than a year ago.


Yesterday morning many emergency rescue personnel and area police departments were busy sorting out 28 crashes involving 63 vehicles near the Elmore county line.  ISP says another 20 plus vehicles were stuck between the crash locations. The crashes were reported around 5 am and were cleared by 11 am.  Westbound traffic was diverted for 6 hours. 


The filing period for candidates running for the Idaho Legislature and other elected offices opened Monday morning, kicking the 2024 campaign season up yet another notch in Idaho.  This year, all 105 seats in the Idaho Legislature are up for election.


The overwhelming majority of Idaho’s registered Republican voters did not participate in Saturday’s Republican Presidential Caucus. Fewer Idaho Republicans voted in Saturday’s GOP caucus than voted in the 2012 GOP caucus.  Unofficial reports show turnout for Saturday’s Idaho Republican Presidential Caucus at about 6.8%.


The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of a human fetus found in a storm drain in Smelterville.  Investigators say it appears the fetus was approximately four months along.


The Idaho Legislature is moving forward with an attempt to involve itself in the University of Idaho’s bid to purchase the University of Phoenix amid a number of concerns over the expense and transparency of the deal.  Legislative leaders are being asked to explore legal action against the State Board of Education’s creation of a not-for-profit corporation in order to make the purchase.
