School Lockdown.  School officials at Frontier Elementary in Jerome sent a note to parents yesterday that the school went into secure lockdown.  At the time, police were on scene with what was described as police activity.  No further details were given.  Doors were locked and the students were brought inside.



As cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza spread across U.S. cattle, Idaho officials say their biggest concern is the virus’ impact on Idaho’s economy. On April 1, the Idaho State Department of Agriculture reported its first case of the bird flu in cattle in Cassia County. The facility had recently imported cattle from Texas. Yesterday, the department confirmed a second herd in Cassia County is positive for the bird flu.



Idaho gas prices are in a holding pattern this week, with the state’s average price for regular at $3.93 per gallon since April 17.  It’s a welcome reprieve from the previous trend of soaring week-over-week prices.  According to AAA, Gem State drivers are currently paying 27 cents more than a month ago and 22 cents more than a year ago.  Meanwhile, the national average sits at $3.66 per gallon, which is two cents less than a week ago.



The fight over the Gender identity law.  Idaho is joining with three other states to file a complaint in U.S. district court to challenge the Biden Administrations final title 9 regulations.  The states claim the regulations unlawfully rewrite the directive. It lifts restrictions placed for bathrooms and locker rooms lifting gender identity. 



Idaho Governor Brad Little signed a letter alongside 47 other state governors opposing the Biden administration move to incorporate Air National Guard Service members into the space force.  A Defense Department proposal would require Congress to override existing law requiring that governors approve changes to National Guard units.



The would-be buyers of the ITD’S former Boise headquarters have filed a lawsuit with the Idaho Supreme Court, asking the state’s highest court to throw out budget language state legislators approved blocking the sale. It comes just weeks after the Idaho Legislature passed budget language blocking the $51.7 million sale.
