College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball guard Jaylon Johnson was instrumental in leading the Golden Eagles past fifth-ranked Salt Lake CC and 10th-ranked Snow College this past week and was named Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his contributions. The sophomore averaged 22 points, 2.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game for CSI. Against Salt Lake, he was 5-for-7 from long range and was 4-for-7 against Snow.
The Idaho State football team has announced its 2024 season schedule and for the first time in 10 years, the Bengals will host six home contests. The Bengals only play one FBS opponent in 2024 against Oregon State to open the season.
Tyson Degenhart's jumper with 2:51 pulled Boise State within two points, but seven points from UNLV in the final 71 seconds – five at the free throw line – was enough to down the Broncos 68-64 at ExtraMile Arena. Boise State hosts San Diego State in a nationally-televised game on Saturday. Tipoff is at 11 a.m. on CBS.
On to the local High School games played yesterday, first for the boys, Camas County downed Hagerman 76 to 49. Minico said no to Wood River 50 to 41. It was Jerome 57 Burley 42. Declo defeated the Sun Valley Community School 57 to 26. Twin Falls took the win over Mountain Home 71 to 24.
For the girls, Buhl downed Gooding 37 to 26. Kimberly outlasted Filer 49 to 39. Murtaugh outlasted Oakley 52 to 47. Valley said no to Carey 49 to 42. Glenns Ferry ousted Hansen 56 to 40. Raft River for the win over Castleford 58 to 26 and it was Declo overpowering Wendell with a score of 52 to 40.
Turning to the sports schedule for local high school Varsity basketball, first for the boys we find Hansen travels to Carey. Glens Ferry goes to Castleford. Wendell goes to Filer, Gooding will board the bus to Kimberly. Lighthouse house Christian will host Valley. Murtaugh heads to Raft River. Oakley goes to Shoshone.
For the girls, Lighthouse Christian will host Valley. American Falls visits Buhl. Mountain Home goes to Burley and Filer will visit Declo. Richfield travels to Dietrich. Jerome goes to Minico and Twin Falls will meet up with Pocatello. Canyon Ridge in Twin Falls will board the bus to Wood River.
