The awards keep coming in for College of Southern Idaho Volleyball standout Annie Nikolnikova. The sophomore middle blocker was named NJCAA First Team All American yesterday. Nikolnikova, who was the Region 18 Player of the Year, helped the Golden Eagles to a seventh place finish at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
Boise State sophomore Ashton Jeanty, one of the most dynamic players in the country, was named the Mountain West's Offensive Player of the Year Tuesday as the league announced its 2023 All-Conference Teams. Jeanty is just the second sophomore ever to be named Offensive Player of the Year in the Mountain West and just the third Bronco to receive the honor.
On to the scoreboards, first for men’s college basketball from last night where Pepperdine downed the Idaho State Bengals 77 to 62.
For the high school games, first for girls’ basketball Twin Falls defeated Burley 51 to 27. Valley outlasted Shoshone 41 to 36. Richfield said no to Castleford 49 to 21. Filer overpowered Marsh Valley 50 to 38. It was Oakley 40 Raft River 36 and Minico 61 over Canyon Ridge 23. Elsewhere, Twin Falls Christian Academy outlasted Camas County 30 to 17. Kimberly said no to Homedale 55 to 44. It was Dietrich 50 over Glenns Ferry 37.
For the Boys, Eagle dominated Minico 47 to 39. Pocatello outlasted Twin Falls with a score of 76 to 54 and Wendell defeated Melba 58 to 56.
On today’s schedule first for the girl’s, Murtaugh will travel to Dietrich and Hagerman will be on the bus to play Rockland.
For the Boys Glenns Ferry will host Richfield, Shoshone heads to Hagerman, Buhl goes to Jerome, Burley travels to Preston and Kimberly travels to Wood River.
