Sports 12/11/23


The season is over for Vandal football.  They fell fell 30-22 to the UAlbany Great Danes in the FCS Quarterfinals. Idaho finishes their best season since 2016 when they also went 9-4.


A 13-0 run for Boise State men's basketball shortly after the first media timeout of the second half gave the Broncos a 20-point lead they never relinquished in a 109-70 win over Western Oregon, Saturday at ExtraMile Arena.


Elsewhere, Utah State downed the North Nazarene nighthawks 84 to 53.  Idaho defeatd Utah Tech 63 to 62.  Southern Utah took the win over Idaho State 82 to 74.  It was Boise state 109 over western Oregon 70 


Boise State women's basketball fell to BYU, 65-50, Saturday, in the Marriott Center.  In one other game, Oregon defeated the Idaho Vandals 59 to 51. 


The College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team took a two-point lead with under five seconds to play but a banked in 3-pointer at the buzzer gave Indian Hills the 69-68 win Saturday. CSI returns home to host the Hilex Poly/Physicians Immediate Care Tournament next Friday and Saturday.


The College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball team rolled past Rocky Mountain JV 80-46 Saturday to improve to 11-3 on the season.  CSI returns home to host Western Wyoming Tuesday at 5 p.m.


Here is a look at varsity basketball from over the weekend.  First on Saturday for the boys, Minico  defeated Burley 63 to 37.  Kimberly for the win over Homedale 66 to 53.  Riverstone International took the win over Hansen 66 to 32.  It was Camas County 54 over Liberty Charter 54 to 66.  Snake River outlasted Buhl 82 to 45.  Sugar Salem for the win over Filer 55 to 46.  Valley the victors over Oakley 51 to 49.  Shoshone for the win over Wilder 44 to 42.  Kimberly took the win over Homedale 67 to 53.  Garden Valley defeated Richfield 60 to 29.  Dietrich outlasted Cascade 62 to 53.  It was Marsing for the win over Lighthouse Christian with a score of 45 to 37. 


For the Girls, Murtaugh took the win over Butte County 62 to 57.  Declo for the win over Aberdeen 56 to 7. 


On Friday’s scoreboard for the boys, Twin Falls defeated the Jerome Tigers 66 to 55.  Elsewhere Buhl defeated Fruitland 62 to 42.  Hagerman said no to Murtaugh 53 to 52.  Cascade defeated Hansen 62 to 25.  Declo took the win over West Jefferson 66 to 26.  Butte County downed Lighthouse Christian 67 to 51.  It was Glenns Ferry 71 to Castleford 49.  Weiser defeated Gooding 63 to 50. 


For the girls, Filer took the win over Preston 47 to 35.  Weiser outlasted Gooding 61 to 29.  It was Jerome over Kimberly 57 to 21.  Dietrich defeated Mackay with a score of 54 to 36.

In wrestling news, Jerome took the team title at the Tim Matthews invite on Saturday in Jerome. 


On the schedule first for boy’s varsity today, The Sun Valley Community School travels to Twin Falls to play Christian academy.  Oakley travels to Lighthouse Christian in Twin Falls.

For the girls, Mountain Home travels to Twin Falls.  Jerome Goes to Burley.  Wood River goes to Minico.
