Sports 3/1/24


The first day of state high school boys basketball playoffs are over.  One of the eight teams from southern Idaho advanced to play tonight.  That was Camas County.  Taking a look at the games, first for 4A action Ridgevue defeated Twin Falls 57 to 49.  Twin falls will take on Sandpoint at 5:00 in the consolation bracket today.  Bishop Kelly defeated Minico 54 to  38.  Minico will play Blackfoot in the consolation bracket. 


In 3A play, Bonners Ferry defeated Kimberly with a score of 61 to 50.  The Wildcats will take on district foe Filer in the consolation bracket this afternoon at 2:00.  Marsh Valley outlasted Filer 61 to 43. 


In 2A action, Nampa Christian defeated Declo 64 to 50.  The Hornets will take play Firth today at 2:00 in the consolation bracket. 


In 1A D1 play, Butte County outlasted Oakley 46 to 40.  The Hornets will play Victory Charter at noon today at 3 in the consolation bracket.  It was Potlatch ousting Valley 54 to 42.  Valley will play Liberty Charter in the consolation bracket this afternoon at 2:00.

In 1A D2 action, Camas County the victors over Clark Fork 85 to 49.  The Mushers will play No. 5 Cascade at noon today for a chance to advance to the championship game.


NiJaree Canady struck out 16 in a three-hit shutout as No. 7 Stanford defeated visiting Boise State 7-0 at the DeMarini Invitational yesterday.  Stanford scored three times in the first against Boise State starter Taylor Caudill and two runs in both the fourth and fifth against the bullpen.  Today’s schedule has been altered due to expected bad weather. Boise State takes on No. 3 Georgia at 1:30 p.m. and gets a rematch with Stanford at 4 p.m.


The Bengals men's basketball team faced off with Northern Arizona for the second time this season last night. In their first matchup in Flagstaff, Arizona the Bengals lost in overtime 92 to 88.  The Bengals men's basketball team will have their final game of the season in Reed Gym this tomorrow at 6 pm vs Northern Colorado for Senior Night as the Bengals honor their lone senior, graduate student, Brayden Parker.
