Sports 4/19/24


Pickle ball players listen up.  There will be a father’s day tournament in Twin Falls set for Thursday June 13th through Saturday the 15th.  The event will be at the Frontier Park.  Early registration is through the end of this month which will guarantee entry. 



From the high school baseball diamonds yesterday, Twin Falls took the win in both games of a double header3 to 2 and 9 to 5. Minico for the win in both of their games 18 to 3 and 20 to 0.  It was a split for Gooding and Filer.  In the first game Gooding for the win 11 to 8.  Filer took the second 10 to 6.  Kimberly defeated Buhl 13 to 3 and Buhl then took a win over Gooding 11 6. 



In softball games, Jerome defeated Burley 15 to 11.  Then Burley turned it around to win the second game 14 to 4.  Burley’s Halli Vaughn hit a grand slam the bottom of the 4th.  Twin Falls won both games over Mountain Home 17 to 2 and 13 to 3.  Wood river for the win in both games over Minico 12 9 and 15 to 0.  Kimberly outlasted Buhl in both games 12 to 5 and 12 to 3.  Filer took both of their games over Gooding 9 to 5 and 11 to 7.  Glenns Ferry outlasted Idaho City 21 to 0. 



Taking a look at the weekend high school sports schedule, first for  Baseball tonight, Declo Travels to Wendell, Lighthouse Christian goes to Wilder.  Jerome goes to Burley, Glenns Ferry to Rimrock and Declo goes to Wendell.  Tomorrow, Idaho City visits Lighthouse Christian, Filer travels east to Snake River, Glenns Ferry travels to North Star Charter.

On today’s softball schedule, Wendell will travel to Marsing.  On Saturday Snake River goes to Filer, Buhl goes to South Fremont, Glenns Ferry will travel to Garden Valley. 



The Big Sky Conference announced its 2024 Hall of Fame class with eight members comprising the league's third class overall.  From Idaho State University, Natalie Doma one of the best women's basketball players of all time at ISU was selected.  From the U of I Two-time Big Sky Conference Player of the Year and three-time All-Big Sky honoree Orlando Lightfoot was selected.  The 2024 class will be officially inducted on Saturday, July 20 starting at 7:30, as part of the Big Sky Football Kickoff Weekend in Spokane, Washington.
